Shopping Deals July 26, 2013!

Hi Guys!

Few good things on sale this week. It looks like the usual stuff that goes on sale every so often. I just headed to a quick Costco trip with my boss for work stuff and I found a great deal on Duracell batteries. It seems that this week's sale was $19.99 for 48 AA batteries, which works out to just under $.42 each. It was $5 off the normal price, which I think is usually pretty cheap. I did pick up the AAA's, which were $19.99 for 28 batteries and not as cheap but I discovered were much needed for our bathroom clock! It's been out for like two weeks! Ok, let's see what to pick up this week!

Shopping Trip July 23, 2013!

Good Morning Y'all!

I was on my way home from work on Tuesday, when I found out we were about to do an impromptu trip to the grocery store. The horror and dread on my mind about having no coupon binder or no iPad for price matching. So, this trip was a very very small trip to get us by the week. Thank goodness for photo stream on the Apple devices! All the screen shots I took with my iPad automatically get transferred to my iPhone, so I was able to price match a couple items. I also learned that there is no free underground parking at the No Frills on Front Street East before 6pm. You'll have to find one of the five or so spots on the street level right in front of the store. We were lucky to have found a spot eventually, but it was packed with so many cars!

On the savings front for my trip, it's been so so... I have to admit I'm still eating out a couple times a week. It also doesn't help with the crazy weather we've been having and the black outs, forcing us to eat out. The only way I can think of combating this sluggish savings is to dedicate a day of pay each week to my spending pool for the trip. And since it's still summer, there are lots of bbq's and birthday's to go to so in a way we'll save on groceries. I'm going to try to cut back on some unnecessary spending on junk foods and stuff. Even though, I know I got to have them in the house I can buy less and save more.

On another note, since applying for Virtual Brokers to test out their trading platform. I've yet to hear from them, which is a little disconcerting since they were my top pick to trade with. If they have bad customer service before you join with them, how do you think they will treat you after you sign up and give them your money? I think I'm going to start looking for a decent financial advisor. If I could afford it, I would go the fee only way but since I'm just starting out I'll probably have to look for the regular advisors just to get started. It kind of sucks since I know they won't have my best interest at heart but their's instead with what they can make off commissions on me.

Let's see what I bought this week!

- Omega 3 egg's pm'd $3.69 at Loblaws
- 30% off ground beef $5.33 (we made delicious taco's the night!)
- Black plums pm'd Freshco $.99/lb
- 2 X Blueberries $1.44 each
- 2 X Alcan foils $.88 each
- Chapman's ice cream sandwiches $2.88
- Bananas $.57/lb
- Green lettuce $.77

A Blurb On Travelling and Shopping Deals For July 19th, 2013!

Hi Gang,

There are free Potato Thins this week! It's a new chip product I was looking to trying and now seems to be the time with the sale for $1.88 at No Frills and a Checkout51 of $2 off. Whoo hoo moneymaker! I'm also looking to pick up lychees, I have no idea what they cost when in season but $1.88/lb at No Frills seems like a good deal! If you're a big fruit eater like me, then now is the time to pick up lots of fresh fruit. But, is it just me or when you buy fruit you have to have it sit around for a few days to a week in the fridge before its sweet enough to eat?

I'm going to be in super saver mode for the next few months as I've just booked a big vacation! Yay! I still expect to be enjoying my summer but I'm really dedicated to starting a fund to pay for my play money on this trip. Thanks to my Old El Paso commercial, I'll be able to pay for this vacation in full. That's the most important thing about taking trips! You never want to go into debt just to satisfy your need to go somewhere. Trust me! I learned that the hard way! I was bit by the travel bug from a young age and many argue it's not worth the money or they don't have the money. I totally disagree! It's worth every penny and no one is making you fly to god knows where! You can take a short trip to somewhere close by. That is if you don't go overboard and budget accordingly and get deals and pay reasonable prices for everything from flights, accommodations and to what you eat while away. Remember, what you save in flights and hotels, you can spend in shopping and whatever else you want. Fly economy or even drive and get an Airbnb or stay with friends/family. You'll save tons of money with Airbnb, I've stayed with them in Paris, Berlin, and Montreal and had a great host, price and location with all of them. Make sure to read all the host reviews and their rating is in the high 90%.

The thing that people forget about when taking a trip is the stuff you have to pay for regardless if you go away or not. It's all your fixed expenses like mortgage/rent, cell phone bill, and money lost from not working (you know with me being self-employed and all). This is the stuff that I'm working hard now to save for. Not only do I want my bills paid but all my various saving goals met and paid in full. Just because I'm away, my life and goals in Toronto don't just stop. What I did was calculate what my expenses will be like up until including the month of my trip and make sure those expenses are taken care of. Anything income extra above my expenses will be my trip money, so I'm looking to pick up extra shifts if possible. I don't plan to over kill on the shopping but I'd like to have a fancy meal here and there.

On a final note, before you head off to check out the shopping list! I finally requested to open up an account with Virtual Brokers. I'm looking to get into buying some ETF's in my RRSP's. I have a very ambitious amount I'd like to hit for retirement and with about 40 years to go, I'm anxious to start! As much as I love my TFSA, I'm tired of earning the measly 1% or 2% that is currently being offered. So, hopefully you'll be able to enjoy and accompany me on my journey to a more complete financial portfolio and hopefully financial success!

Shopping Deals for July 12, 2013!

Hi My Peeps!

Still no shopping trip yet! Aside from a quick stop in Chinatown for fruit or what not, it's just been lots of eating out this week! I think the whole being on set screwed me up! It really messed with my sleep for a couples days and I just caved from exhausgen! After the shoot, I took a much needed day off from the office from working 15 hours straight on set to sleep in and do a spontaneous late afternoon trip to a Wonderland! We haven't gone in about five years and man I'm getting old! I couldn't finish a funnel cake cause it was too sweet and I'm the biggest chicken when it comes I rides now! I did, however, sucked it up and went on the first row with Winton on the Leviathan! I mean after all, we sat next to two random little girls and I didn't want to look like a scaredy cat! Oh, the horror of peer pressure and what it can make you do!

As for the deals this week, I'm most looking forward to getting any groceries right now! We have food to sustain us but I got to have my supply of fresh fruits at all times! I miss having a well prepared home meal that's tasty and good for me and my wallet! But, the one thing I'd really like to pick up is the $1.77 toilet paper at Loblaws! I love me some cheap house supplies! And maybe some Dawn dish soap for my mom! The flyer doesn't specify the size but the coupon says its for 363mL or bigger! Fingers crossed! That would be such a great deal!

Last Tricycle and Shopping Deals for July 5, 2013!!

Hi Gang,

What a busy week! Full of audition after audition, with wardrobe dates coming up and a shoot! AND I still have to go to my regular jobs! Needless to say, there has been a lot of take out for awhile! I have been able to cook the occasional meal but I'm pretty wiped out. It's funny that July seems to be the month of birthdays too, so lucky for me there will be cake! We'll here's my last diaper tricycle for the month of June! I really wished I could have found a better base other than a crappy cut up card board box.  I'm happy to say it's getting easier to make these and all of my trikes have been very well received by the mommies to be!

I finally got my hand made bow down!
